📖 Past Continuous là gì?

Past Continuous dùng để nói về việc đang xảy ra tại một thời điểm trong quá khứ:

  • 🕖 At seven yesterday, I was eating breakfast. (Lúc 7 giờ hôm qua, tôi đang ăn sáng.)
  • 📺 She was watching TV when I came home. (Cô ấy đang xem TV khi tôi về nhà.)

💡 Khi nào dùng Past Continuous?

1. Hành động đang xảy ra tại một thời điểm trong quá khứ

At 8 PM yesterday, I was watching TV. (Lúc 8 giờ tối hôm qua, tôi đang xem TV.)

2. Hai hành động xảy ra đồng thời

While I was cooking, my wife was studying. (Trong khi tôi đang nấu ăn, vợ tôi đang học.)

3. Hành động đang xảy ra thì bị gián đoạn (Past Continuous + Past Simple)

I was sleeping when the phone rang. (Tôi đang ngủ thì điện thoại reo.)

🧠 Mẹo nhớ: “was/were + V-ing” = đang làm gì đó (trong quá khứ). Giống Present Continuous nhưng đổi am/is/are → was/were!
