📝 Cue Card 1: Describe a Person
⏱️ 1 phút ghi chú → 2 phút nói → Thu âm!
Model Answer — Cue Card 1
The teacher I’d like to describe is Mrs. Hoa, my English teacher in high school. She taught me for three years, from grade 10 to grade 12, and I can honestly say she had the biggest impact on my education.
Mrs. Hoa was probably in her late forties at the time. She had short hair and always wore these colourful dresses that somehow matched her personality — bright and full of energy. What set her apart from other teachers was her teaching style. While most teachers just followed the textbook, she would bring in songs, games, and real conversations. She made us feel like learning English was fun rather than a chore.
What made her truly special, though, was her genuine care for her students. I remember I was struggling with my confidence — I was terrified of speaking English in front of the class. One day, she kept me after class and said something I’ll never forget: “Mistakes are not failures — they’re proof that you’re trying.” From that day on, she would gently encourage me to speak up, never criticising my errors but always celebrating my efforts.
Her influence on me has been lasting. She’s the reason I fell in love with English and decided to keep learning it beyond school. More importantly, she taught me that a good teacher doesn’t just teach a subject — they inspire you to believe in yourself. Even now, whenever I feel nervous about speaking English, I hear her voice in my head saying, “Just try — that’s all that matters.”
I’m truly grateful to her, and I hope one day I can tell her how much she meant to me.
📝 Phân tích:
- ✅ Vivid description: “colourful dresses”, “bright and full of energy”
- ✅ Specific memory: conversation after class + quote
- ✅ Deep reflection: lasting impact, life lesson
- ✅ Emotional closing: gratitude
📝 Cue Card 2: Describe a Place
⏱️ 1 phút ghi chú → 2 phút nói → Thu âm!
Model Answer — Cue Card 2
A place I’ve always wanted to visit is Santorini, a beautiful island in Greece. I’ve never been to Europe before, and Santorini is at the very top of my travel bucket list.
I first learned about Santorini through social media — I kept seeing these stunning photos of white buildings with blue domes overlooking the sea. The contrast between the white architecture and the deep blue ocean looked absolutely magical. I also watched a travel documentary about Greek islands, which made me fall even more in love with the idea of going there.
If I ever get the chance to visit, there are so many things I’d love to do. First and foremost, I’d want to watch the famous sunset in Oia — apparently, it’s one of the most beautiful sunsets in the world. I’d also love to explore the narrow, winding streets, visit local shops, and try authentic Greek food like moussaka and fresh seafood. And of course, I’d want to spend time just relaxing on the volcanic beaches, which are said to have black and red sand — how unique is that?
The main reason I want to visit Santorini is that it represents everything I love about travelling — natural beauty, rich culture, delicious food, and a pace of life that’s completely different from my daily routine. I think it would be the perfect place to disconnect from the stress of work and just enjoy the simple pleasures of life. I’m already saving up for this trip, and I hope I can make it happen within the next couple of years!
📝 Phân tích:
- ✅ Source of knowledge: social media + documentary
- ✅ Specific activities: sunset, streets, food, beaches
- ✅ Unique details: “black and red sand”
- ✅ Personal motivation: disconnect from stress, simple pleasures
- ✅ Future plan: “already saving up” → concrete
📝 Cue Card 3: Describe an Experience
⏱️ 1 phút ghi chú → 2 phút nói → Thu âm!
Model Answer — Cue Card 3
I’d like to talk about the first time I tried cooking a full meal by myself. This happened about a year ago, during a long holiday when I was home alone for a few days.
I’d always relied on my mother’s cooking or eating out, so I had practically zero experience in the kitchen. But that week, I decided it was time to learn. I chose to make a Vietnamese chicken curry because it was my favourite dish and I thought, “How hard can it be?” Well, it turned out to be much harder than I expected!
I started by watching a cooking tutorial on YouTube and writing down all the ingredients. Then I went to the market and spent ages trying to find lemongrass and coconut milk. When I got home, the real challenge began. I remember struggling to chop the onions — my eyes were watering so much that I could barely see! The kitchen was a complete mess — there were ingredients everywhere, pots and pans piled up, and I accidentally set off the smoke alarm at one point.
But despite all the chaos, when I finally tasted the curry, I was pleasantly surprised. It wasn’t perfect — the chicken was a bit tough and I’d added too much salt — but it was edible, and more importantly, I’d made it myself! I felt an incredible sense of accomplishment. I immediately called my mother to tell her, and she laughed and said, “Welcome to the real world!”
This experience taught me that trying new things is always a bit messy and uncomfortable at first, but that’s part of the fun. Since then, I’ve been cooking regularly, and I’ve gotten so much better. Looking back, I’m really glad I took that first step — even if the kitchen looked like a disaster zone afterwards!
📝 Phân tích:
- ✅ Humor: “How hard can it be?”, smoke alarm, “disaster zone”
- ✅ Vivid details: watering eyes, messy kitchen, tough chicken
- ✅ Emotions: nervous → struggling → surprised → accomplished
- ✅ Life lesson: trying new things is messy but worth it
- ✅ Follow-up: “been cooking regularly since then”
