The diagram illustrates the step-by-step process of manufacturing chocolate from raw cacao beans.

Overall, the production of chocolate involves ten main stages, beginning with the harvesting of cacao pods and ending with the packaging of finished chocolate products. The process can be broadly divided into two phases: the preparation of raw beans and the manufacturing of chocolate.

In the first phase, ripe cacao pods are harvested from trees and the beans are extracted. These beans are then placed in wooden containers, covered with banana leaves, and left to ferment for five to seven days. After fermentation, the beans are spread out and dried in the sun for one to two weeks before being packed into bags and shipped to a chocolate factory.

At the factory, the dried beans are roasted at temperatures between 120 and 150 degrees Celsius for approximately 30 minutes. The roasted beans are then ground into a paste known as cocoa mass, which is subsequently pressed to separate cocoa butter from cocoa powder. In the final stage, the cocoa butter and powder are combined with sugar and milk, poured into moulds to cool and solidify, and finally packaged for distribution.

The two maps compare the town of Millford in 1990 and 2020, showing the changes that took place over this 30-year period.

Overall, Millford underwent significant urbanisation and modernisation. The town expanded considerably, with agricultural and natural areas being replaced by residential and commercial developments, while some original buildings were retained.

In the centre of town, the Town Hall remained in its original location. However, the open market was replaced by a large shopping centre, and the post office was converted into a café. To the north, the small residential area of 20 houses expanded dramatically to 80 houses, and the farmland was developed into apartment blocks.

In the south, the train station was retained but a car park was added beside it. The factory was demolished and replaced by a public park. On the eastern side, the woodland was cleared to make way for a school and sports ground. To the west, the river remained unchanged, but the old bridge was replaced by a wider, more modern bridge.
